John Obi Mikel, the former Chelsea midfielder, has shared a critical observation about Cole Palmer’s performances in high-pressure matches, urging fans not to take his comments the wrong way. Mikel, a long-time supporter of Palmer, believes the talented winger needs to improve his impact in crucial fixtures to avoid the risk of becoming less effective in the future.

Palmer, who moved to Chelsea from Manchester City for £42.5 million in 2023, has quickly established himself as a standout player. Last season, he impressed with 22 goals and 11 assists, earning the Premier League Young Player of the Year award. This season, he’s continued to deliver, with seven goals and five assists in just 11 games. However, Mikel pointed out that Palmer has been relatively quiet in key matches against top clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester United.

On his *Obi One Podcast*, Mikel expressed his admiration for Palmer but made it clear that he wants to see more from him in big games. He said, *“I’m a huge fan of Cole Palmer, as are most Chelsea fans. But when it comes to the big games, that’s where I want to see more from him. Against City, Liverpool, and United, he was quiet. It’s not about his talent—it’s there—but I’d love to see him step up, deliver those key assists, or make a game-changing impact. Look at players like Lamine Yamal; they rise to the occasion in big matches.”*

Mikel clarified that his comments come from a place of support and a desire to see Palmer fulfill his potential. He concluded by playfully addressing Chelsea fans, saying, *“Chelsea fans, don’t come for me. We all love Cole Palmer. I just want to see him dominate those big moments.”*

Mikel’s advice highlights the importance of consistency in high-stakes encounters, with Palmer needing to show that he can influence Chelsea’s performances in the most important matches.
