Cardiff City ‘open to the possibility’ of selling star as Wrexham and Birmingham City among Championship clubs circling

Cardiff City suffered disaster last season as their Championship status was stripped from them as they were relegated to League One after a poor campaign.
The Welsh giants had been flirting with relegation from the Championship to League One for a number of seasons, and it was finally confirmed in the 2024/25 season.
Cardiff were relegated to the third tier alongside Plymouth Argyle and Luton Town last term, and a Welsh footballing legend was then interested in buying a share of one of those sides.
Surprisingly, Gareth Bale was interested in buying Plymouth, but his attention has now turned to Cardiff, giving hope to many Bluebirds fans whose morale is at an all-time low due to the relegation and the club’s current financial situation.
New manager Brian Barry-Murphy will want this situation settled quickly so the attention from the board turns to on the field matters ahead of the new season.

While this may be a positive for the future of Cardiff, the club may have suffered some less than encouraging news from a member of their squad recently.
Cardiff City are ‘open to the possibility’ of selling Calum Chambers
A number of Cardiff City players have become the interest of Championship sides after the Welsh giants were relegated to League One.
As per information from our Chief Football Correspondent, Graeme Bailey, EFL Analysis can exclusively reveal that Cardiff City are open to the possibility of selling Calum Chambers.

It is understood that the England international is of interest to a number of Championship clubs, including but not limited to Wrexham, Birmingham City, and Watford.
As the interest continues to grow around the Cardiff City player, he may be interested in a move away from the Welsh capital to play in a more prestigious division than League One.
Who is Calum Chambers?
Chambers featured in 41 matches last season for Cardiff, playing a number of different positions; however, he primarily operated at centre half.
The 30-year-old only joined the club last season, making the move from Aston Villa due to his lack of minutes with the Premier League side.
Club | Appearances | Goals | |
2012-14 | Southampton | 25 | 0 |
2014-22 | Arsenal | 122 | 5 |
2016-17 | Middlesbrough | 26 | 1 |
2018-19 | Fulham | 33 | 2 |
2022-24 | Aston Villa | 36 | 1 |
2024-present | Cardiff City | 42 | 2 |
Chambers has international experience, having made three international caps for England, and has played at the highest level for a number of clubs.
He also demonstrated his star quality in the Championship with Fulham, winning their Player of the Year in 2019 when the London club earned promotion.
It is understandable why Championship sides are circling to acquire the signing of the defender due to the experience and quality he would add to any Championship club.
