Xabi Alonso Plans Versatile Role for Endrick at Real Madrid

Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso is reportedly considering using Brazilian wonderkid Endrick in a more versatile attacking role, including as a right winger, according to Relevo.
The 17-year-old, who is set to officially join the Spanish giants in the coming weeks, has primarily been seen as a central striker due to his explosive power, clinical finishing, and direct style. However, Alonso appears to be exploring multiple tactical options to get the most out of the teenager’s skill set.
Endrick’s development has been closely monitored since his breakout performances with Palmeiras, and his adaptability is seen as one of his strongest attributes. While he has thrived in central roles, often leading the line with maturity beyond his years, his pace, dribbling, and ability to cut inside make him a dangerous threat on the flanks. Alonso reportedly views this positional flexibility as key to integrating Endrick smoothly into a star-studded Real Madrid attack.
This potential shift in position could also ease the pressure on Endrick to immediately fill the void left by Karim Benzema’s departure. With Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Jr., Rodrygo, and Jude Bellingham already established in the squad, Alonso may be looking to rotate his front line more fluidly. Playing Endrick on the right could allow him to learn from his teammates, contribute meaningfully without being the primary goal-scoring focus, and gradually find his best role.
The tactical decision could also reflect Alonso’s long-term vision for Real Madrid’s attacking evolution. By developing Endrick in a multi-positional capacity, the coach would increase squad depth and unpredictability. This approach mirrors how Rodrygo transitioned into a more flexible role, and it could benefit Endrick as he adapts to European football.
Fans and pundits alike are eager to see how Endrick will be deployed when he officially joins the squad. Whether he starts out wide or centrally, there’s no doubt that his raw talent will be an exciting addition to Real Madrid’s next generation.
Alonso’s willingness to experiment early could unlock even more of Endrick’s potential and shape him into one of the most complete attackers of his generation.
