Wolves preparing to make official offer for Club World Cup star but a problem has just emerged

Wolves are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2025/26 season after signing Fer Lopez, and are set to lodge a bid for one target.

Vitor Pereira has mostly seen players leave the club so far this summer.

Pereira expressed his concern about players leaving, and fans are also slightly worried at this point.

Pre-season is not too far off now, and ideally Wolves will sign a couple more players in time for the pre-season friendly matches.

Wolves have again been scouring the South American market and recently, Wolves have been looking at Flamengo, the former club of Pereira and also Joao Gomes.

Wolves have reportedly been tracking Wallace Yan, and late last night, a big update was shared on the Brazilian youngster.

Wolves to bid for Wallace Yan, but Flamengo open talks to extend contract

Wallace Yan burst onto the scene earlier this year.

The 20-year-old has already scored six goals and made three assists in 2025, and has alerted clubs to his quality and potential. Wallace has also impressed at the Club World Cup, scoring goals against Chelsea and LAFC.

Wolves recently learned it would take £34 million to sign Wallace, which is thought to be the value of his release clause.

And now, according to Julio Miguel Neto, Wolves are ready to step up their interest in the form of a bid.

He says that an official offer is expected from Wanderers next week.

Interestingly, he says that Wolves don’t intend to offer more than around £13 million, which is considerably less than his release clause.

But Neto then provided another update, in what could present a problem for Wolves.

He says that Flamengo have actually now opened talks with Wallace about signing a new contract.

Flamengo are keen to extend Wallace’s contract to 2030 and give the youngster a salary increase – currently, he is one of the club’s lowest earners. It’s also suggested his release clause would be raised.

Time of the essence for Wolves to land Wallace

It seems there is some genuine interest from Wolves in the starlet, but word of Flamengo trying to extend Wallace’s contract means the club may need to hurry.

A new deal would make it almost impossible for Wolves to get him, so time could be of the essence here.

Jorge Mendes is thought to be facilitating Fabio Silva’s exit from Wolves right now, amid interest from several clubs.

But potentially, Wolves need to get the agent’s help in this particular situation to ensure they don’t miss out.
