‘Wilson to reject Leeds United after Farke phone call’ as striker breaks silence

Callum Wilson could potentially rebuff an approach from Leeds United this transfer window due to Daniel Farke.
The Englishman left Newcastle recently after his contract at St James’ Park expired, and he’s now available as a free agent.
Wilson has been linked with a move to Elland Road this summer as the Whites look to add more options in their attack after winning Premier League promotion.
Farke’s role alongside Adam Underwood in the West Yorkshire outfit’s transfer business is imperative, as the German manager is brutally honest during phone calls about the role potential signings will play under him, which may lead to the ex-Newcastle striker rejecting an approach.

Wilson wants to be number one amid Leeds United transfer interest
Wilson doesn’t want to be a number two at the next club he joins after leaving Newcastle.
The 33-year-old feels he can still contribute a lot and seemingly isn’t ready to be a backup centre-forward wherever he goes next.
After a conversation with Eddie Howe, the English striker is determined to have more regular opportunities elsewhere in the upcoming campaign.
Speaking to The i Paper (11 July), the attacker said: “When you come on as a sub, it’s so hard to catch a second wind, and before you know it, the game is over. That was the only thing for me. I still feel I can offer so much.
“I had conversations with the manager, and we established that I’m not at a point mentally where I’m ready to sit on the bench and play number two for the whole season.
“I don’t mind yo-yoing here and there, but it’s got to be a fair fight.”

Wilson’s record at Newcastle last season.
Farke relied on Joel Piroe last season, and the Dutchman repaid that faith by finishing as the leading goalscorer in the Championship.
While Wilson has been impressive in the past, his recent fitness issues and form have been concerning, and it would be surprising to see Farke guaranteeing him a regular spot in the starting lineup at Elland Road.

Leeds to push for new striker transfer for Farke
Former Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin has also been on the West Yorkshire outfit’s radar after leaving Goodison Park.
Leeds clearly seem to be working on giving Farke a new centre-forward ahead of the upcoming campaign, but it remains to be seen who that will be.
If Wilson agrees to sign a deal at Elland Road, contingent upon the number of games he can play due to his injury issues, then the Whites should consider a deal.
Farke can’t afford to have a liability in the squad in the upcoming campaign as he fights to survive an instant drop to the Championship.
