What Brighton insiders have been saying privately about Joao Pedro’s personality ahead of Chelsea move

Joao Pedro will be familiar to Chelsea supporters from his time in English football across recent years, but Brighton insiders have now made an interesting claim about the imminent Blues signing.
It’s been widely reported that the Blues are about to sign Joao Pedro from Brighton. In fact, Pedro has completed his Chelsea medical ahead of his switch to West London.
The 23-year-old attacker should soon be announced as a new signing at Stamford Bridge, and he’ll go straight into Enzo Maresca’s squad for the ongoing Club World Cup tournament.
Pedro hopes a Chelsea move will boost his international career as he eyes a spot in Brazil’s squad for the 2026 World Cup. As it stands, the young forward only has three senior caps for Brazil under his belt.

Joao Pedro earns rave reviews from Brighton insiders
According to The Daily Mail, sources within Brighton’s setup are upset about Pedro’s exit and only had positive remarks to make when asked for an assessment of his personality.
Apparently, they describe the South American star as a supreme talent. He’s been working on channelling frustration and aggression that sometimes creeps into his game, too.
Brighton insiders insist Pedro’s ability cannot be questioned because he can do things others simply can’t on the football pitch.
While Newcastle fans are gutted about missing out on Pedro’s signature, Chelsea supporters should be excited about all the positive noise coming out about the player. Hopefully, he can emulate the likes of Moises Caicedo and Marc Cucurella in going from a Brighton star to a big success at the Bridge.

Joao Pedro is a complete player
As you can see below, WhoScored metrics state that Pedro has no obvious weakness in his game.
The imminent Chelsea signing doesn’t join as the finished article because he’s still got a lot of room to grow, but he’s got all the fundamentals in his game of a top-class attacker.
In Maresca’s system, we think he’s got every chance of improving the Blues XI. He’s just got to ensure he stays on the right line of the law because he does play with an aggression that can catch the eye of referees.
It’s very exciting for Chelsea supporters to know they’re adding a forward with both great technical and physical attributes in his game.
