Viktor Gyökeres Sacrifices €2M Salary to Push Arsenal Move

In a bold and selfless move, Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres has agreed to waive €2 million of his salary in a bid to push through a transfer to Arsenal. The 26-year-old, currently at Sporting CP, is reportedly eager to make the move to the Premier League, and his gesture highlights just how determined he is to wear the red and white of the North London club.Sporting, however, remains firm in their valuation of the forward.
While Arsenal have submitted a formal proposal, the Portuguese club is insisting on a significantly higher fee than what has been offered. Negotiations have been ongoing, with both clubs trying to find a middle ground, but Sporting’s stance has been unyielding thus far.
Despite the financial gap, Gyökeres is not letting up. According to Portuguese outlet Record, the striker has made it clear that he’s willing to make personal sacrifices to get the deal over the line. Waiving €2 million from his potential salary package is a rare and admirable step in modern football, especially considering the financial stakes at play.
This gesture may help soften Sporting’s position or push Arsenal to increase their offer, as Gyökeres continues to do his part to make the move happen. He had an outstanding season with Sporting, scoring 43 goals across all competitions, and it’s no surprise that Arsenal see him as a potential missing piece in their attacking setup.
As the transfer window progresses, all eyes will be on how Arsenal responds. Will they meet Sporting’s asking price or try to negotiate further? One thing is certain — Viktor Gyökeres has made his intentions crystal clear, and his actions show he’s ready to do whatever it takes to become a Gunner.
