Tottenham open the door for Everton to land ‘fantastic’ free agent after internal talks held

Everton have struggled to land some of their targets over other Premier League clubs already this summer.

Tottenham hand Everton fresh Kyle Walker-Peters optimism

Everton are interested in Kyle Walker-Peters as they look to bring in some new options at full-back.

The former Southampton defender has now left the Saints as a free agent, with a number of clubs interested in his services.

It has been suggested that Tottenham Hotspur were keen to re-sign Walker-Peters to solve their homegrown quota issues.

According to The Times, this may not be quite the case, despite Tottenham reportedly holding internal talks over the 28-year-old.

Spurs are now not expected to make a move for Walker-Peters.

Moyes has been keen to sign a new full-back at Everton for months now, and this could be just the opportunity Everton could pounce upon.

Walker-Peters is currently training with Dele Alli just months after his Everton exit was confirmed.

Walker-Peters could address both Everton’s full-back needs

Vitaliy Mykolenko is Everton’s only senior left-back, with the Ukraine international in desperate need of both cover and competition.

The options on the other side are also fairly sparse, with Jake O’Brien impressing under Moyes in the unnatural position at right-back.

If Everton were to land Walker-Peters, the Toffees could secure themselves a player who would be capable of playing on both sides of the pitch.

Last season, Walker-Peters demonstrated his versatility by playing five different positions for the Saints.

Everton have around £100m to spend this summer, and they need to make that stretch across a number of needs.
