The Worst Mistake Kylian Mbappé Refuses to Make in the Champions League: “We Have To…”

French striker Kylian Mbappé has been captivating the French media since Sunday. Back in France to play in the Nations League, the Real Madrid number 9 revealed the crucial mistake he’s determined to avoid in the Champions League, specifically regarding his former club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Absent from the French national team since October, Mbappé made a thunderous return this week. In stellar form with Real Madrid, where he has already tallied around thirty goals, KM9 arrived in his home country with unwavering confidence.1 Upon landing, he confided in the newspaper Le Parisien, discussing a range of topics from his adaptation to Madrid and its challenges to the Ballon d’Or and Paris Saint-Germain, where it’s suggested the team is thriving without him.2
When asked about the possibility of a Champions League semi-final clash with PSG, Mbappé opted for caution. Recognizing the impressive form of Luis Enrique’s team, which has a strong chance of advancing in the competition thanks to a standout Ousmane Dembélé, Mbappé chose to remain prudent.
“The worst mistake would indeed be to think about that,” Mbappé stated. “It reminds me of last year, when everyone assumed a PSG-Real final was a foregone conclusion. And ultimately, neither of us reached the final. So, I’m only focusing on Arsenal, our quarter-final opponent, and my team, Real Madrid.”
Given that Real Madrid is competing on multiple fronts, including a tightly contested La Liga and the Copa del Rey, where a top-tier performance is required to reach the final, Mbappé prefers to take things one step at a time.
“We are engaged in all competitions. We have the opportunity to achieve something great in this final part of the season, and all our energy must be devoted to that, to ourselves and the upcoming matches. These kinds of projections should be left to the general public, to those who have the right to get excited or speculate. We don’t have time for that,” he concluded.
It’s well known that Real Madrid has never been a club to rush or anticipate. With a coach who adapts to every situation, Mbappé’s team simply needs to concentrate and prepare for the significant challenges ahead. Football is a sport of great surprises, and anything can happen. PSG could even be eliminated in the quarter-finals, contrary to the expectations of many French fans.
Mbappé stressed the importance of staying focused on the present and not being distracted by speculation or future projections. He emphasized that the team must approach each match with seriousness and determination, giving their absolute best.
Furthermore, Mbappé expressed his confidence in his team and teammates, highlighting the unity and cohesion within the group. He stated that the team is ready to face any challenge and achieve its goals.
Mbappé also touched on his adaptation to Madrid, saying he feels at home in the club and is happy to play alongside such talented players. He underscored the importance of team spirit and solidarity for success in football.
Regarding the Ballon d’Or, Mbappé said he doesn’t focus on individual awards but rather on collective success. He emphasized that winning titles with his team is the most important thing.
In addition, Mbappé took time to acknowledge the intense competition in La Liga, stating that every match is a battle and that the team must maintain consistency to achieve their goals. He spoke of the high level of play within the league, and the need for constant improvement.
He also spoke about the importance of the fans, and how they contribute to the high moral of the team. He mentioned the support he recieves from the fans, and how he intends to reward them with good play.
Finally, Mbappé expressed his gratitude to the Real Madrid supporters, stating that he is touched by their support and passion.3 He promised to give his all to make them proud.
In conclusion, Mbappé emphasized the importance of focus, determination, and team spirit for success in the Champions League. He reiterated that the team must approach each match with seriousness and not be distracted by speculation or future projections.
