The only credible link for Everton at the moment looks like Douglas Luiz joining David Moyes’ regime.

The former Aston Villa midfielder looks eager to return to England after a controversial move with his current club, Juventus.
Luiz missed Juventus’ pre-season training, and Fabrizio Romano revealed that Luiz’s ‘priority’ is a Premier League return, and Moyes’ side could be the perfect opportunity.
This brings the perfect opportunity for The Friedkin Group to help Everton land Luiz, but competition is also around.
Nottingham Forest are keen on the Brazilian, with West Ham also interested, and after Luiz’s agent visited England, a former Juventus director believes he already knows what the midfielder has done.

The sneaky Douglas Luiz suspicion after Everton talks
Everton require a rejuvenation in the midfield, but Evertonians just want players to come in and feel some excitement.
After Thierno Barry’s arrival, it was expected that players would arrive frequently, but this hasn’t appeared to be the case.
That’s why there is such investment in the 27-year-old, as Everton fans see Luiz as a ‘cracking signing’ and his previous fortunes in the Premier League explain that.
However, despite there being a burning desire to land the Brazilian this summer, former Juventus director Franco Ceravolo spoke to Radio Bianconera (24/07/25) about his training absence and has a sneaky suspicion about Luiz.
“From my experience, I imagine that the fine will be very high, because the gesture that the player has committed is definitely serious.
“In this case, players can do practically nothing, and it is the club that decides the percentage of salary that is reduced based on agreements made upstream.
“In light of the facts, now Douglas Luiz is out of pink and will be sold. Why behave like this? Surely, he does not want to stay, and maybe, he could have an agreement with some other club.”
Moyes might have a problem with Everton target Luiz after Juventus situation
Taking into account that it is likely he has an ‘agreement’ in place with someone, Everton could be this club.
Luiz has been busy over the last few days in terms of talking to clubs, as the Toffees’ new project could have been the perfect reason for Luiz to come back, and explains why he missed training.
Of course, other clubs are in the frame, and Moyes will know it won’t be an easy task to land the highly sought-after Brazilian.
Luiz wants a Brazil call-up, which is one of the reasons why he wants to play in the Premier League again, with former Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti potentially playing his role.
But the problem that might emerge now for Moyes is Luiz’s attitude, as the Scotsman will want to avoid big egos and toxic atmospheres around the club, as the Everton manager might not be too pleased with how the Brazilian has handled the situation in Turin.
