Ruben Amorim has described his first home match as Manchester United manager as a “real ride” following a dramatic 3-2 win over Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League.

“Like a real ride, we started very well, then we suffered two goals in two transitions,” Amorim said. “I liked the way the players continued to play our game. I could feel the crowd when it was 2-1; in the past, we had problems where we’d win the ball but give it away too easily.

“The mindset now is to keep the ball and, when possible, go forward. The players are really trying, and I think we deserved the win. Of course, there were good moments, difficult moments, and some confusion at the end as we tried to hold onto the result. But the lads did a great job—they ran, they pressed, and they worked on the things we focused on during these three days. And we won.”

A Warm Reception at Old Trafford

Amorim also took a moment to acknowledge the fans, who gave him a rousing welcome both before and after the match.

“The first thing is that half the stadium doesn’t really know me,” Amorim admitted. “I came from Portugal and have done nothing for this club yet, so the way they made me feel at home is so special.

“It’s not after something; it’s before something. This is something I will cherish for the rest of my career.”
