Referee’s report reveals Barcelona received two red cards in Alavés clash

The referee’s match report, led by Miguel Ángel Arias, confirmed that FC Barcelona received two red cards during their 3–1 victory over Alavés at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on Matchday 14 of La Liga. While the team secured the win on the pitch, disciplinary setbacks emerged from the technical area.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will be without two members of Hansi Flick’s coaching staff for their next two matches following their expulsions during the clash with Alavés. The individuals involved were assistant coach Markus Sorg and goalkeeping coach José Ramón de la Fuente.
Both coaches were dismissed by referee Miguel Ángel Ortiz Arias for protesting officiating decisions. De la Fuente’s red card, issued in the 65th minute, was attributed to “vociferously protesting a decision from his technical area directed at assistant referee number 1,” as recorded in the official report.
Under Article 127 of the RFEF Disciplinary Code, which covers protests against refereeing decisions, both staff members are expected to receive a two-match suspension. The sanction underscores the regulations aimed at maintaining respect for match officials.
As a result, Sorg and De la Fuente will be absent for Barcelona’s upcoming fixtures: Tuesday’s match against Atlético Madrid at the Estadi Olímpic and Saturday’s encounter with Real Betis at La Cartuja. Their absence will require adjustments on the bench as Flick prepares for two demanding league games.
