Real Madrid poised to trigger Nico Paz buy-back from Como in 2026 – reports

Nico Paz’s transfer to Como was structured as a permanent sale, but with a three-year buy-back clause that Real Madrid can activate at the end of any season. This unique agreement keeps the midfielder’s future closely tied to Madrid despite his move to Italy.
Cesc Fàbregas, who supported Paz’s arrival at Como in the summer of 2024, has openly stated that he would have preferred the Hispano-Argentine talent to stay another year. However, he acknowledges that the final decision rests entirely with Real Madrid, given the contractual framework already in place.
In August 2024, Madrid and Paz completed a full contract that will immediately take effect if the club exercises the buy-back option. This pre-arranged deal was crucial for facilitating negotiations between Madrid, Como, and the player, ensuring all parties were aligned on future possibilities.
Since joining Como, Paz has experienced notable growth. He earned a place in Argentina’s national team, played 35 matches with five goals last season, and has contributed another five goals and five assists in 13 appearances this campaign. His development has significantly boosted his market value and transformed him from a Castilla prospect into a key attacking midfielder.
Although no final decision has been made, all indications point toward a Real Madrid return next summer. Clubs that have shown interest in Paz are aware that Madrid retains priority, and the Spanish giants are increasingly expected to activate the buy-back clause.
