‘Rangers to complete Conor Coady transfer in days’ as bid accepted at Ibrox

Leicester City centre-back Conor Coady could potentially sign for Rangers soon this transfer window after a delay.

The ex-Wolves defender is a target at Ibrox as the Gers look to bolster their squad ahead of next season.

There have been some concerns about the time it’s taking for the Light Blues to agree a deal with the Championship outfit for Coady.

The lack of outgoings at the Glaswegian outfit may be hindering the 10-cap England international’s move to G51, but that could potentially be solved soon.

FC Twente bid accepted by Rangers for Robin Propper transfer

FC Twente’s bid to re-sign Robin Propper has been accepted by the Gers, Russell Martin shared.

The Scottish manager revealed that while the Light Blues have agreed a deal with the Eredivisie outfit regarding the centre-back’s transfer, personal terms seem to be an issue for now.

With the arrival of a few defenders at Ibrox already, the 39-year-old head coach has admitted it will be hard for the 31-year-old Dutchman to get regular opportunities at the Glaswegian outfit next season.

Speaking to the media, as relayed by The Rangers Review (11 July), Martin said: “We accepted a bid from [FC Twente], so I think it’s just a case of Robin deciding if that’s what he wants and agreeing on personal terms and stuff.

“I’ve been really impressed with him as a guy, but I think obviously we signed some centre-halves, so it’s going to be difficult for him to play football.

“So I think if it happens, it’s a good move for him, and if it doesn’t, it will be because he’s decided it’s not what’s right for him and maybe he’ll look for something else.”

Coady transfer to go ahead after Propper exit at Ibrox

It wouldn’t be surprising to see Coady arrive at Ibrox in days as soon as the Gers sell Propper this summer.

The English defender is back in pre-season training with Leicester, but that doesn’t mean the Light Blues have dismissed his signing.

As of now, Martin has several options in his backline with the additions of Emmanuel Fernandez and Nasser Djiga.

Rangers still have the likes of John Souttar, Clinton Nsiala and Leon King in their ranks, and it would make sense for them to work on a few departures before getting anybody else in at centre-back.

In the meantime, Kevin Thelwell is also working on bolstering other areas of the pitch, with a number of attackers being linked with the Gers.

Coady would arguably bring much-needed experience and solidity to the Light Blues’ defence, but it remains to be seen how his situation will unfold.

As for Propper, it would undoubtedly be best for him to leave after a disappointing campaign in the Scottish Premiership.
