Real Madrid’s Champions League aspirations were dashed as they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against Arsenal at the Santiago Bernabéu, culminating in a 5-1 aggregate loss. Adding to the disappointment, star forward Kylian Mbappé sustained a right ankle injury during the match.

The French international twisted his ankle in the 75th minute following a challenge with Arsenal’s Declan Rice. He was visibly in pain and had to be substituted, making way for Brahim Díaz. The incident was further marred by sections of the home crowd jeering Mbappé as he left the pitch

Initial assessments suggest that Mbappé has suffered a mild sprain. He is scheduled for further medical evaluations on Friday to determine the extent of the injury and his availability for upcoming fixtures.

Mbappé’s recent form has been under scrutiny, with the forward failing to score in his last five appearances across all competitions. His performance against Arsenal was particularly underwhelming, registering no shots on target.

Real Madrid’s next match is against Athletic Club, a game Mbappé is already set to miss due to suspension from a previous red card. His participation in the subsequent league match against Getafe remains uncertain, pending the results of his medical tests.

The club and its supporters will be anxiously awaiting updates, especially with the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona on the horizon. Mbappé’s fitness could be pivotal in Real Madrid’s quest for silverware this season.

Stay tuned for more updates on Mbappé’s condition and Real Madrid’s preparations for the upcoming fixtures.
