Nottingham Forest in pole position to sign teenage gem, he’s held talks with Crystal Palace

Nottingham Forest fans are waiting for the transfer window to really heat up, but new players will come into the club.

The Reds need to make sure that all areas are well stocked, with UEFA Conference League football on the agenda for next season at the City Ground.

Forest will sign Igor Jesus in the coming weeks, with his medical now passed, and other new recruits will be sought before the pre-season campaign gets into full swing.

Although Nuno Espirito Santo will be fully focused on recruiting for the first team, it’s fair to say that the academy ranks won’t be neglected by the club.

Nottingham Forest set to sign former Chelsea youngster

Quite clearly, this won’t be a signing for the senior ranks, but with Forest frantically refreshing social media feeds for new links, they will have to take this as a positive.

According to Dan Marsh from The Mirror, Forest are now set to win the race to sign Luke Campbell, a 19-year-old goalkeeper who left Chelsea at the end of last season.

It had been thought that Crystal Palace were going to win the race to land the teenager, but now Forest look to have landed the young talent.

Forest have just lost a goalkeeper from the academy, with Harry Griffiths joining Notts County, and perhaps Campbell will fill the void in the B-Team ranks that he’s vacated.

Pathway will remain clear for youngsters at Forest

With Matz Sels and Carlos Miguel, the goalkeeping ranks at Forest look okay for now, but Campbell will likely grasp the academy reputation at Forest.

Espirito Santo is keen to do what is right for the first team, but as he proved by playing Zach Abbott at Wembley against Manchester City, if young players are good enough, they’re old enough.

Campbell will come to Forest having played 21 times for the various academy ranks at Chelsea, and clearly, he will have to prove himself at Forest.

However, the academy staff will make sure he gets plenty of minutes, and now the ball will be in his court when it comes to impressing the relevant people.
