Newcastle United transfer news LIVE: Liverpool ‘make approach’ to Magpies over Alexander Isak
Newcastle United are ramping up their transfer window work after making a sensational move to sign Hugo Ekitike.
The Magpies have had to be patient but they are up and running in the summer window after the capture of Anthony Elanga’s arrival from Nottingham Forest. That was a stunning £55m deal – but it may only be the tip of the iceberg.
United are also keen to add another central striking option, to compete with Alexander Isak, and former target Ekitike is the one they want. A club record deal is in the pipeline after talks with his club Eintracht Frankfurt.
Eddie Howe wants some top class arrivals this summer, with talks continuing over a move for Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford. while a centre-back remains high on the list.
Sean Longstaff the subject of bids from Leeds United but Newcastle have held firm so far, seeking a higher fee. Other exits could be on the cards as United look to balance the books amid big spending plans.
