Mystery Sheffield Wednesday bidder revealed as likely Chansiri successor, it is not Francesco Guardascione

Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri has accepted a bid to purchase the club, but Francesco Guardascione is not leading the way to take control.

Interest in Sheffield Wednesday has heated up in recent weeks, with it looking as though Dejphon Chansiri’s reign is coming to its end.

Despite the departure of players, with Anthony Musaba leaving Sheffield Wednesday, while Djeidi Gassama looks likely to follow him out of the exit door, positive news has started to trickle into the club.

Danny Rohl decided to stay at the club due to the growing realisation that a takeover of the club is near, and since then, a price has been agreed with one party.

Reports suggest that Francesco Guardascione is heading up a consortium pursuing a purchase of Sheffield Wednesday, with BBC reporter Rob Staton suggesting that he was a ‘name to know’, but an alternative figure has been reported as the man behind the accepted Sheffield Wednesday bid.

Sheffield Wednesday bidder named as US sports entrepreneur Tilman Fertitta after making offer to Dejphon Chansiri

Per The Sun, Sheffield Wednesday have reportedly received an offer from US sports entrepreneur Tilman Fertitta.

Whilst the fee has been kept secret, The Sun reporter Alan Nixon revealed that ‘Fertitta may lodge cash to help settle some bills in the short term’ to help the running of the club.

Nixon also mentioned that Fertitta is ‘a far more credible candidate than many who have chased the Yorkshire club ownership’.

Just days ago, Alan Biggs reported that Fertitta was ‘one of the contenders’ to take over at Sheffield Wednesday, with Dejphon Chansiri now actively looking for a buyer.

Who is US businessman Tilman Fertitta?

Tilman Fertitta has made his wealth as a businessman and TV personality, with the 68-year-old accumulating a wealth of over $10 billion.

The US businessman has made his name in several ventures, including hotels, casinos, entertainment and also sport, with Fertitta acquiring the Houston Rockets for an NBA record of $2.2 billion.

On the surface, Fertitta has a significant financial backing and previous experience working in sport, which would hopefully translate into a successful period at Sheffield Wednesday if he bought the club.

There is plenty of concern over alternative contender Francesco Guardascione, which will likely make Owls fans gravitate towards Fertitta hopefully being Dejphon Chansiri’s successor.
