Manchester City and Chelsea are poised to receive an extraordinary financial boost from FIFA’s newly inked £1 billion broadcast deal with DAZN for the exclusive rights to televise the expanded Club World Cup.

The tournament, set to take place in the United States next year, will be broadcast free-to-air worldwide, giving it an unprecedented global reach.

According to Mail Sport, both clubs are expected to pocket between £50 million and £60 million from their participation.

This windfall dwarfs the earnings most Premier League clubs generate from summer tours, which typically account for a fraction of such sums.

The massive payouts have sparked speculation over potential competitive advantages in the Premier League’s financial landscape.

Manchester City secured their place in the tournament as reigning Champions League winners, while Chelsea qualified as the last English club to win the prestigious title.

The expanded format of the competition will feature 32 teams, including heavyweights like Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, and Juventus.

However, the selection of Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami and Seattle Sounders, despite their early MLS playoff exits, has raised eyebrows.

The deal with UK-based DAZN not only guarantees substantial payouts to participating clubs but also includes a solidarity fund aimed at distributing revenue among football associations of the competing teams.

This arrangement ensures broader financial benefits, with England’s FA among the key beneficiaries.

FIFA’s revenue from the tournament could rise further with additional sponsorship deals. Hisense, AB InBev, and Bank of America have already signed on, and FIFA is targeting up to 10 more partners.

DAZN’s involvement is seen as a strategic move to bolster its standing after years of financial struggles, with speculation suggesting potential Saudi investment in the streaming platform.

The Club World Cup, slated for mid-June, aims to feature top-tier players despite growing concerns over player fatigue from an already packed calendar.

The lucrative DAZN agreement is expected to incentivize clubs to field their strongest squads, adding to the tournament’s prestige.

With this groundbreaking deal, City and Chelsea are not just chasing glory on the pitch—they’re set to reap the rewards off it as well.
