Luis Diaz Hit With Three-Match UCL Suspension Over Red Card With PSG

Bayern Munich Star Luis Díaz Handed Three-Game Champions League Suspension
Bayern Munich winger Luis Díaz has been handed a three-game suspension by UEFA following his red card in the club’s recent 2–1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain. The Colombian’s challenge on Achraf Hakimi during first-half stoppage time was deemed “serious rough play,” prompting the disciplinary action and sidelining him for upcoming Champions League fixtures.
Díaz had an impactful evening before his dismissal, scoring twice to put Bayern in the lead. However, the straight red card now rules him out of crucial European matches, including trips to Arsenal and home games against Sporting CP and Union Saint-Gilloise. Hakimi, the player involved in the incident, is expected to miss several weeks due to the resulting injury.
Despite Díaz’s suspension, Bayern remain in a strong position in the Champions League, leading their group after winning all four matches so far. Since joining from Liverpool in the summer, Díaz has quickly become a key figure under Vincent Kompany, contributing 11 goals and seven assists in just 17 appearances, and playing a pivotal role in Bayern’s impressive start to the season.
The club’s positive momentum in Europe is tempered by fresh injury concerns. Serge Gnabry returned from international duty with a muscle issue after Germany’s 6–0 win over Slovakia. Kompany has indicated that Gnabry is unlikely to feature in this weekend’s Bundesliga clash with Freiburg but could return soon after.
Overall, while Díaz’s suspension and Gnabry’s injury present challenges, Bayern’s squad depth and strong group-stage position provide a platform to maintain their form in both domestic and European comp
etitions.
