Lucas Perri ‘set for move’ after Leeds United hold transfer talks

Leeds United have held talks with Lucas Perri as they’re looking to find a replacement for the underperforming Illan Meslier.
Perri plays for Lyon, who recently got relegated to the second tier due to financial reasons, and may need to sell players this summer.
Meslier has been at Elland Road for the past few seasons but has been extremely inconsistent between the sticks.

Djordje Petrovic or Perri expected to join Daniel Farke’s side
According to the Guardian (4 July), the Whites and Sunderland are both looking for new keepers this summer.
The duo got promoted from the Championship last season and aim to stay put in the Premier League beyond the upcoming campaign.
| Club | Appearances | Goals Conceded | Clean Sheets |
|---|---|---|---|
| Botafogo | 67 | 58 | 31 |
| Olympique Lyon | 49 | 63 | 15 |
| Náutico | 44 | 49 | 14 |
| São Paulo | 9 | 9 | 3 |
Perri’s career stats.
Chelsea’s Djordje Petrovic and Perri are keepers they are looking to sign and both sides have held talks with them.
It’s understood that one of them is likely to join Daniel Farke’s side and the other one will be moving to the Stadium of Light.

Perri would be a good signing for Leeds United
Perri would be a valuable signing for Leeds United due to his proven track record and physical attributes that align with the club’s needs.
Standing at 6’5”, the Brazilian’s height gives him a significant advantage in handling crosses and dominating his penalty area, addressing Leeds’ need for a commanding goalkeeper following Meslier’s inconsistent performances.
His 2024/25 Ligue 1 season with Lyon saw him keep 10 clean sheets in 33 matches, outperforming several Premier League goalkeepers.
Perri’s athleticism, shot-stopping ability and improved build-up play make him a modern goalkeeper suited for the English top flight’s demands.
At 27, he offers experience and potential and with Lyon’s financial difficulties, the Elland Road outfit could secure him for a reported £12-13million, a bargain for a player who could solidify their defence and boost their Premier League survival chances.
