Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher Urged to Embrace a Move to Chelsea

Caoimhin Kelleher has been advised to consider leaving Liverpool and making a bold switch to Chelsea, as former Premier League striker Darren Bent suggests this could be the perfect moment for the goalkeeper to seek a fresh challenge.
Bent, speaking on talkSPORT, highlighted rumors linking Kelleher to Stamford Bridge, emphasizing that the move would be a “low-risk” opportunity for the Irishman to establish himself as a first-choice goalkeeper—a role he’s been vocal about desiring for years.
The 25-year-old has often found himself overshadowed by Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper, Alisson Becker. Despite limited opportunities, Kelleher has impressed, most recently saving a penalty from Kylian Mbappé in a high-profile match against Real Madrid. However, Liverpool’s acquisition of Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili—who is currently on loan at Valencia—could push Kelleher further down the pecking order.
Bent likened Kelleher’s situation to Emiliano Martinez’s rise after leaving Arsenal for Aston Villa. “Martinez left Arsenal to become a star at Villa and went on to win the World Cup. Kelleher is 25—it’s time for him to make his move,” Bent remarked. He also pointed out Chelsea’s ongoing struggles with Robert Sánchez in goal, adding, “At £35 million, Kelleher would be a steal for Chelsea.”
A move to Chelsea could provide Kelleher with the platform to fulfill his ambitions while addressing Chelsea’s pressing goalkeeping issues. The question now is whether the young Irishman is ready to make the leap.
