Liverpool fans are losing their minds over the latest Alexander Isak update — and it’s got Anfield buzzing!

Liverpool supporters are riding an emotional rollercoaster as the transfer saga surrounding Newcastle United’s prolific striker Alexander Isak continues to heat up. The 25-year-old Swede, fresh off a sensational Premier League season in which he netted 23 goals, has become the centre of attention in what could be one of the summer’s most dramatic moves.
The frenzy reached new heights after reports surfaced suggesting a deepening rift between Isak and Newcastle. According to multiple outlets, the striker has made it clear that he wants to join Liverpool. His absence from Newcastle’s pre-season tour of Asia and his decision to train alone at former club Real Sociedad have only strengthened the belief among fans that a switch to Anfield is inevitable.
Fuel was added to the fire when Sky Sports’ Keith Downie reported that Isak was left out of a team bonding event at Newcastle’s training ground. Supporters on social media interpreted this as a tell-tale sign of an impending transfer. One fan on X joked, “Not even invited on a team bonding day… he’s definitely off,” while another quipped, “Leaving him out of the family BBQ tells us everything we need to know. Welcome to Liverpool, Isak!”
Journalist Lee Ryder further raised hopes for Liverpool fans by revealing that the Reds have “every encouragement” to make a second bid after their initial £110 million offer was rejected. Newcastle’s valuation of £150 million remains steep, but Liverpool have boosted their financial war chest by raising over £120 million from the sales of Luis Díaz, Caoimhin Kelleher, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Jarell Quansah. An additional £46.2 million came from Darwin Núñez’s high-profile move to Al-Hilal.
Still, conflicting reports have introduced an element of uncertainty. The Telegraph claims Newcastle’s Saudi ownership has instructed that Isak will not be sold this summer. This stance has reportedly frustrated the striker, leading him to train separately until his mindset changes—a development that’s left Liverpool fans alternating between hope and doubt.
Fabrizio Romano has added another twist by revealing that Isak has turned down a new contract extension at Newcastle, doubling down on his desire to move to Merseyside. This revelation sent Liverpool supporters into overdrive, with posts declaring “HERE WE GO” and others predicting the deal could be finalised before the window closes.
Part of the optimism also stems from Newcastle’s difficulties in finding a suitable replacement. Key targets Benjamin Šeško and Hugo Ekitike have slipped through their fingers—Šeško joined Manchester United, while Ekitike has already signed for Liverpool. Rival fans have mocked Newcastle’s predicament, while Reds supporters see it as a sign the Magpies may eventually give in.
Not every Liverpool fan is entirely convinced, though. Some echo the concerns of club legend Jamie Carragher, questioning whether splashing £150 million on another forward—especially after signing Ekitike—is the most strategic move. The financial gamble, they warn, could have long-term implications.
Meanwhile, Newcastle fans are growing increasingly frustrated, accusing Isak of having his head turned and urging the club to part ways if his commitment has faded. Rival supporters have also seized the opportunity to point out inconsistencies in how Liverpool fans view player strikes depending on the shirt being worn.
With the September 1 transfer deadline looming, the Isak saga remains finely balanced. For Liverpool, the potential arrival of the Swedish forward represents more than just another signing—it could signal a new era under Arne Slot, one in which the club reasserts itself among Europe’s elite. For now, Anfield is buzzing with anticipation, every update feeding the belief that the “Swedish superstar” may soon be leading the line in red.
