Liverpool accepts the exchange of Konaté and 35 million for a Real Madrid Player

In a summer transfer window full of surprising twists, one of the biggest stories emerging involves a potential blockbuster deal between Liverpool and Real Madrid. According to recent reports, Liverpool have accepted a sensational proposal involving Ibrahima Konaté and €35 million in exchange for a key Real Madrid star.
The player at the heart of this proposed exchange is Rodrygo Goes, the Brazilian winger whose future at the Santiago Bernabéu has become increasingly uncertain. Despite his desire to stay and fight for his place under Carlo Ancelotti — or potentially Xabi Alonso, should he take over — the growing competition in Real Madrid’s attack could push him toward the exit.
Sources close to the negotiation claim that Real Madrid are evaluating the offer seriously. The departure of Nacho Fernández earlier this summer has left a gap in their defensive options, and with Antonio Rüdiger entering the final year of his contract — and now drawing attention from Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr — reinforcements in central defense have become a priority.
Enter Konaté. The French defender, 25, is admired by Real Madrid scouts for his physicality, aerial prowess, and ability to play out from the back. Having struggled with injuries during parts of his Liverpool tenure, he still remains one of Europe’s most promising centre-backs. A fresh start in La Liga could revive his career and provide Madrid with a long-term defensive anchor.
However, Liverpool’s willingness to let Konaté go is not without reason. The Reds are reportedly eyeing defensive reinforcements of their own, while also seizing the chance to bring in a world-class forward like Rodrygo. Under Arne Slot’s new era, Liverpool’s attack is expected to take a more fluid and technical shape — and Rodrygo fits that bill perfectly.
In addition to Konaté, Liverpool have also agreed to offer €35 million in cash as part of the swap, which could sweeten the deal for Madrid. While Rodrygo has stated his intention to stay and fight for his place — especially after seeing off competition from players like Hazard in the past — the arrival of Kylian Mbappé this summer has complicated things.
Madrid’s attacking line now boasts Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior, Brahim Díaz, Joselu (on loan), and Arda Güler, with Endrick also arriving in 2026. This surplus of forward options could limit Rodrygo’s minutes, making him more open to a move if his role diminishes.
Meanwhile, another name being monitored by Real Madrid is Álvaro Carreras, the Benfica left-back who could become their fourth signing of the summer. With Manchester United holding first refusal, Madrid are awaiting a response from Old Trafford before proceeding.
In midfield, Madrid are reportedly still exploring a blockbuster move for Alexis Mac Allister, another Liverpool star, although the deal is said to be separate from the Konaté-Rodrygo exchange. Mac Allister remains a favorite of Xabi Alonso, who sees him as a potential anchor for his preferred system.
If completed, this potential swap deal would mark one of the most high-profile exchanges of the summer — involving two European heavyweights and players who still have their best years ahead of them. While negotiations are still ongoing, the structure of the deal has already been laid out: Konaté plus €35 million in exchange for Rodrygo.
With just weeks remaining in the transfer window, fans from both clubs are holding their breath. Could we see Rodrygo lighting up Anfield next season, while Konaté dons the iconic white shirt of Real Madrid?
Time will tell — but this is one to watch very closely.
