Lizarazu, speaking on Téléfoot, said: “Is he psychologically ready to be captain? The captaincy requires being focused on others, possessing serenity and authority—traits that he doesn’t always seem to have.” Pierre Bouby, speaking on La Chaîne L’Equipe, also commented on Mbappé’s behavior since becoming captain, suggesting that his recent decisions—like refusing to join the national team—raise concerns. “When a captain is at 100% but chooses not to come, it creates a problem, especially when he takes control and Didier Deschamps seems to follow his lead,” Bouby said.
