Jhon Arias has already been endorsed by a Ballon d’Or winner as Wolves step up their interest

Wolves are hopeful of raiding Fluminense for more talent this summer.

After pulling off the 2024 deadline day signing of Andre from the Brazilian club, the Old Gold have clearly been left inspired by the South American market.

Wolves are pushing to sign Jhon Arias from Fluminense this summer, a player who recently lit up the Club World Cup.

Already, Wolves fans are getting excited about Arias, who has 29 caps for Colombia, being an experienced right winger.

Wolves have already held talks with Fluminense over the potential transfer of their star winger. 

Interest in the forward is expected, as at the Club World Cup, the Colombian seriously impressed, putting on shows against some of Europe’s elite.

There is a problem as Fluminense value the 27-year-old at around £44m, but Arias is already sold on a move to Europe, admitting it’s his dream.

Arias has played all of his football in North and South America, representing clubs in Mexico, Colombia and Brazil.

The winger’s success has made him somewhat of a cult hero at Fluminense, where he’s adored around Rio de Janeiro, with even Brazilian icons being left charmed by his ability. 

Speaking to FIFA after Arias’ Club World Cup masterclass against Champions League finalists Inter Milan, Ballon d’Or winner Kaka waxed lyrical about the Wolves target. 

“Today, Arias is a big name in Brazilian football and a cornerstone for Fluminense. He has been outstanding in the league for some time,” the World Cup winner said.

“He’s an extremely dangerous player who can decide a match at any moment. He has stood out in every competition he’s played in, made history with Fluminense with their Libertadores win, and now he’s looking for a major victory at the Club World Cup.”

Unfortunately, Arias’ chances of lifting the Club World Cup have passed as Fluminense were eliminated by Chelsea in the semi-final, but Kaka’s assessment of the player speaks volumes.

For a player of Kaka’s calibre and knowledge to be so sold on what the forward can offer in the final third, Wolves must push to seal the deal. 

Arias is in searing form 

As seen in the graphic above, Arias’ form in 2025 has been superb. 

What stands out from the Colombian’s numbers is how potent he is on a game-to-game basis, with standards rarely slipping.

Maintaining an average of 2.24 successful dribbles and 3.29 key passes per game is mesmeric and only reinforces Kaka’s review of the player’s ‘extremely dangerous’ nature.

Arias could truly explode at Wolves if his transfer can be agreed, in what would be a dream move for both the Old Gold and the Colombia international.
