‘Jacob Ramsey wants to join Tottenham’ after Aston Villa exit news

Jacob Ramsey is keen on a move to Tottenham this summer as he closes in on a move away from Aston Villa, according to the clubs’ former scout.

Mick Brown, who worked for both Villa and Spurs during an extensive career in scouting and remains very well-connected at his former clubs, exclusively told Football Insider that the 24-year-old is keen to kickstart his career away from Villa Park.

After making 25 stars across his 45 appearances in all competitions last season, the midfielder is keen to play regular minutes from the start and believes he can do so at Spurs.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Tottenham have made contact with Ramsey’s agent and are weighing up a formal offer for his signature.

Thomas Frank is believed to be a big fan of the midfielder, while he has been a long-term target for Spurs’ recruitment team who have been tracking him all season.

Meanwhile, Football Insider exclusively revealed in May that Ramsey is “unhappy” at Villa and would be open to a move for more regular starts.

Jacob Ramsey open to Tottenham move after source’s reveal

Brown previously told Football Insider that Villa will accept big offers for Ramsey as Unai Emery is uncertain about where he features in his plans for the future.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted the midfielder will consider all of his options before making a decision.

Jacob Ramsey has to make a decision,” he told Football Insider.

“In his own mind, he’ll weigh up whether he thinks he’s going to be a regular in the Villa team.

“If that’s not the case, he has to ask the same question about whether he would be at Tottenham.

“From what I hear, Spurs would be prepared to offer him more minutes from the start of games than he is currently getting at Villa.

“If that is the case, I’m sure he would be happy to make that move.

“He’s had doubts about whether he’s going to be a regular starting XI player at Villa, or if he’s going to be better served moving somewhere else.

“So a move to Tottenham would be a fresh start and a new environment for him.

“There have been a few questions about what his future at Villa might look like, because the manager isn’t certain he’s going to be a big part of the plans.

“That opens the door for Spurs, because Thomas Frank likes rates him and he’s one they’ve been interested in for a while.

Eberechi Eze update emerges after Spurs contact made

Ramsey is not the only attacking midfield player who has been linked with a move to North London this summer, as Spurs are also interested in Eberechi Eze.

Brown told Football Insider in May that Tottenham are planning talks with Eze’s agent about the possibility of a summer move.

However, Football Insider revealed on 3 July that Spurs are long-term admirers of Eze, but have been dealt a fresh blow in their ambitions of signing him.

The England international has a £68million release clause in his contract and Palace will stand firm on their valuation as they are not prepared to accept less.
