“I Understood That…”: Jésé Rodríguez’s Regretful Reflection on Leaving Real Madrid for PSG
Jésé Rodríguez, a product of Real Madrid’s prestigious academy, has candidly opened up about his move to Paris Saint-Germain, describing it as a decision he deeply regrets.
Eight years after leaving the Spanish giants, the 31-year-old has voiced sharp criticism of his time in Paris while reminiscing about the glory of Madrid.
Speaking on the Mowlihawk podcast, Jésé revealed his motivations for the transfer, admitting financial incentives played a significant role:
“If I had wanted to, I could have stayed in Madrid. But the PSG option appeared. They improved my contract and paid me much better than Madrid, where we were paid every six months. They paid very well. I earned a little less than five million euros gross.”
However, the financial allure came at a personal cost.
Harsh Criticism of PSG Leadership
Jésé’s time in Paris was marred by what he describes as neglect from PSG’s president, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi. Reflecting on his treatment, Jésé stated:
“The president of PSG didn’t even want to see me anymore. I don’t know if he loved my wife more than me. They didn’t give me any explanation. That’s when I realized that Madrid is the best in the world in everything.”
His words underscore a broader critique of PSG’s management style, contrasting it with the structured and supportive environment he experienced at Real Madrid.
Real Madrid: A Benchmark of Excellence
Jésé’s remarks have reinforced the belief among Madridistas that their club stands unrivaled. Under the visionary leadership of Florentino Pérez, Real Madrid continues to thrive, boasting stars like Jude Bellingham, Vinícius Júnior, and the ever-present rumor of Kylian Mbappé’s potential arrival.
For Jésé, the move to PSG may have offered financial rewards, but his heart clearly remains in Madrid. His reflection serves as a testament to the unmatched stature of Real Madrid as a global footballing powerhouse.
