“I Don’t Think About Anything Else” – Barcelona Star Confirms Intention to Stay

Barcelona has been proactive in securing key contract renewals in recent weeks, ensuring the continuity of crucial players in Hansi Flick’s squad. Among those set to remain at the club for at least another season is a key figure whose contract was due to expire at the end of the current campaign. While his future had been a topic of speculation, the expectation is now that he will extend his stay by either activating a clause in his contract or receiving a formal renewal offer from the club.
The experienced forward has been in exceptional form this season, delivering an impressive tally of 29 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions. His consistency in front of goal has been instrumental for Barcelona, proving that age is no barrier to his effectiveness. However, at 36 years old, concerns have been raised about whether he can maintain a regular starting role under Flick, especially as Barcelona eyes long-term successors for the position.
Despite the speculation surrounding his future, the player remains resolute in his commitment to the Catalan club. Speaking after receiving the prestigious Football of the Year award in his home country, he made his intentions clear, expressing his happiness at Barcelona and his desire to continue playing at the highest level.
“I feel very good at Barcelona – not only at the club but also among the fans. I feel it every day; in the stadium, in the streets. I’m really happy where I am and the club where I play. I don’t think about anything else, and probably nothing will happen in this matter,” he stated.
His words provide reassurance to both the club and its supporters, who value his experience and leadership on the pitch. While Barcelona is actively scouting for potential replacements, his continued presence offers stability and a proven goal threat that Flick can rely on in key matches.
From a physical standpoint, he remains confident in his ability to perform at an elite level despite his advancing years. He firmly believes that his age should not be a factor in determining his role at the club and that his physical condition remains at a high standard.
“I’m not ashamed and I don’t see any problem in the fact that I’m 37 years old. From a physical point of view, I am not afraid, but it all depends on how things go. Today, I have a smile on my face, I really want to play on the green pitches, and I want to win more. As long as my heart tells me it’s worth it, I’ll do it,” he added.
His determination reflects the mindset of an elite athlete who remains hungry for success despite already achieving so much in his career. His winning mentality has been a crucial asset for Barcelona, and his leadership in the dressing room continues to be invaluable.
Barcelona’s sporting directors are aware that while his contributions remain significant, planning for the future is equally essential. The club has been linked with several young forwards who could potentially fill his shoes in the coming seasons. However, finding someone who can replicate his impact will not be an easy task.
Hansi Flick has consistently spoken highly of the forward’s professionalism and influence within the squad. The German coach values his experience and understands the importance of managing his minutes effectively to keep him in optimal condition for key matches.
While a successor will eventually be needed, Barcelona recognizes the benefits of retaining a player of his caliber for another season. His ability to produce match-winning performances, combined with his experience in high-pressure situations, makes him an asset that Flick is not ready to part with just yet.
The upcoming months will be crucial in determining the exact terms of his extension. Whether through an automatic clause activation or a formal renewal, it appears increasingly likely that he will remain a Barcelona player beyond the current campaign.
For now, the player remains focused on the present, determined to continue contributing to Barcelona’s success. As long as his passion for the game remains intact, he will continue to be an influential figure at the club.
With Barcelona still competing on multiple fronts this season, his presence will be vital in their pursuit of silverware. As he has shown time and time again, age is just a number, and his performances on the pitch continue to prove why he remains an indispensable part of the team.
