Since promotion as Championship title winners in 2017/18, Wolverhampton Wanderers have enjoyed seven seasons as an established Premier League side. Two seventh-placed finishes and one Europa League campaign have no doubt been the highlights.

Vitor Pereira’s outfit finished in 16th last term, their lowest final position since promotion, but relegation safety was effectively secure with months to spare after a stunning run of form in the spring. Wolves’ £279m squad contains a wealth of talent

According to Transfermarkt’s valuations, the Wolves squad has a total value of £279.2m. With a mix of young talent and Premier League experience, the Old Gold’s squad value is comparable with many across the Premier League. The squad is ranked as 16th most valuable in the division, just below those of Fulham and West Ham United.

This squad value is of course in the circumstances where two of the club’s most valuable players, in the shape of Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri, have recently been sold to significantly bring this value down in their absence. Transfermarkt value Cunha at €60m (£51.6m) and Ait-Nouri at €35m (£30.1m). Of course, both figures undervalue the actual transfer fees Wolves received for the players.

In Pereira’s remaining squad, Brazilian international Joao Gomes is the highest-value member of the squad according to Transfermarkt, at €40m (£34.4m), followed by Jorgen Strand Larsen, with the Norwegian striker valued at €30m (£25.8m). In addition, the estimations view Toti (€28m/£24.1m), Andre (€28m/£24.1m), Emmanuel Agbadou (€20m/£17.2m) and Fabio Silva (€20m/£17.2m) – who used to be Wolves’ record signing but has recently been on loan spells away from the club – as other high-value members of the squad.

Worth noting is that these figures are viewed as a player’s accurate market value according to Transfermarkt, not their value to Wolves – so expect at least a 20% price increase if any of the above players were to be sold by the club.
