David Moyes criticizes Manchester United’s managerial instability and discusses Ruben Amorim’s potentiality

David Moyes has spoken out on Manchester United’s recent managerial instability, critiquing the club for abandoning its long-established tradition of managerial patience. The ex-United boss, who was sacked less than a season into his tenure after replacing Sir Alex Ferguson, believes the frequent managerial changes have undermined the club’s historic commitment to stability.

Moyes pointed to the club’s past approach, where managers were given time to implement their vision, even during tough periods. “Manchester United had unbelievable traditions,” Moyes said. “They brought in young players and didn’t sack managers. Even when Sir Alex wasn’t doing well, they stood firm. That tradition is missing now.”

Looking ahead, Moyes is interested to see how Ruben Amorim, who will become the sixth permanent manager since Ferguson, performs. Moyes acknowledged the stark contrast between his own situation and Amorim’s. “I was coming in under different pressures,” he said, “but Amorim might have a stronger position, and United’s players will have to step up.”

Moyes also expressed confidence that Amorim’s three-at-the-back formation will suit the squad. He added, “Players today are more adaptable. With enough central defenders and wing-backs, the transition won’t take long.”

Despite the criticism of United’s managerial turnover, Moyes is hopeful that the club will see improvements under Amorim, given the squad’s talent.
