David Brooks signs – How Rangers could line up v Panathinaikos in Champions League

Russell Martin could hand out up to six full debuts when Rangers face Panathinaikos in the Champions League.

The Gers will host the Greek outfit at Ibrox on 22 July in the second qualifying round of the competition before travelling to Athens on 30 July.

The Light Blues have already confirmed the signatures of Max Aarons, Joe Rothwell and Emmanuel Fernandez and more business is expected to follow.

The new majority owners, the 49ers and Andrew Cavenagh, have a major rebuild on their hands in Govan, but it has been a good start to the summer so far.

Jack Butland is expected to retain his place between the sticks despite Barry Ferguson choosing to go with Liam Kelly towards the end of the campaign.

James Tavernier might keep his place on the right-hand side, with Aarons shifted out to the left flank amid questions over Ridvan Yilmaz and Jefte.

In the heart of defence, Conor Coady is predicted to partner John Souttar, as the Gers continue to pursue a deal for the Leicester veteran.

Nico Raskin and Mohamed Diomande are expected to continue in midfield and could be joined by confirmed addition Joe Rothwell.

David Brooks is predicted to start on the right wing, with a reunion with Martin potentially on the cards after his move to West Brom collapsed.

Jamie Vardy might lead the line, with uncertainty over the future of Cyriel Dessers and Hamza Igamane on the verge of a move to Lille.

Thelo Aasgaard is expected to play on the left wing, as the Light Blues close in on a £5million deal to sign the Norway star from Luton.

Rangers should be stronger than Panathinaikos

Given the potential new additions, the Gers should have enough to overcome the Greek side quite comfortably.

The likes of Coady, Vardy and Brooks have the quality to see the Scottish Premiership side through the two-legged affair.

It remains to be seen if they all sign, but if they do, it will give Rangers a huge chance of ensuring that they have a successful campaign after a dismal season under Philippe Clement and Ferguson.
