Barcelona Sporting Director Deco has committed to his role for the long term after initially considering stepping down. Since returning to the club and leaving his player agency work, Deco has faced a challenging tenure, marked by limited resources and intense scrutiny. However, after strong support and encouragement from Barcelona President Joan Laporta, including public praise and internal discussions, Deco has decided to stay with the Blaugrana.
Reports indicate that Deco felt overwhelmed during the summer, especially under the weight of transfer window pressures. Yet, the club’s recent successes under head coach Hansi Flick, combined with the impressive performance of summer signing Dani Olmo, have given Deco renewed confidence in his position.
Following the close of the transfer window, Deco took a short break in Mallorca to recharge. It was also reported that he briefly visited the hospital due to nausea brought on by job-related stress in mid-August. With these pressures behind him, Deco is now focused on moving forward and supporting Laporta’s vision for Barcelona’s future.
