“Barcelona Have Found Another Phenom to Replace Lamine Yamal”

Barcelona has found a promising talent to step up if Lamine Yamal needs rest, with 16-year-old Toni Fernandez seen as a worthy backup. Yamal, who shone as Spain’s standout at the European Championships, is in remarkable form this season under Hansi Flick, scoring five goals and providing seven assists in just 11 starts. His incredible skill set—averaging 2.2 key passes and combining 5.0 dribbles and fouls drawn per game—has made him a vital force in Barcelona’s powerful attack.
Yet, concerns over Yamal’s workload have arisen, especially after he missed Barcelona’s recent match against Real Sociedad due to muscular strain. His absence was keenly felt as Barcelona’s offense struggled in a surprising 1-0 loss. Managing the minutes of their teenage sensation is now a priority for Barcelona, as Flick aims to avoid injury setbacks similar to those suffered by young midfielders Gavi and Pedri.
Fortunately, Barcelona is prepared. If Yamal were to be sidelined again, Toni Fernandez stands ready. Reported by Diario Sport’s Jaume Marcet, Fernandez has impressed Barcelona’s coaching staff with his creativity and one-on-one dribbling, making him a natural fit for the wing. Though currently recovering from an ankle injury, Fernandez could still make an impact later in the season, providing Flick with a flexible option in attack.
With Flick at the helm, Barcelona’s youth talent is flourishing. When Fernandez returns, he may well join Yamal as another rising star, proving once again that Barcelona’s academy remains one of the finest in nurturing future football phenoms.
