Arsenal Greenlit to Seal £45m Transfer as Bayern Eyes Replacement for Alphonso Davies
Arsenal has received a significant boost in their pursuit of Benjamin Sesko, as reports indicate the Slovenian striker is leaning toward a move to the Emirates. This comes amid fierce competition from Chelsea, Manchester United, and top Italian clubs. With Arsenal prioritizing a new striker for the 2024/25 campaign, Sesko has emerged as the club’s top target, surpassing names like Ivan Toney and Alexander Isak.
According to The Mirror, Sesko’s agent, Elvis Basanovic, has been spotted at Arsenal games, fueling speculation of an impending deal. Arsenal hopes to negotiate a reduced fee for Sesko, whose current release clause stands at £45m.
Sesko’s physicality and finishing ability align perfectly with Mikel Arteta’s vision, even if the player hasn’t been Leipzig’s first-choice striker, with Lois Openda often preferred. At just 20, Sesko represents a long-term investment and a potential key piece in Arsenal’s quest for Premier League dominance.
Meanwhile, in defense, Arsenal is reportedly eyeing Quilindschy Hartman of Feyenoord, a move that could shake up the left-back situation. Bayern Munich’s new manager, Vincent Kompany, is reportedly interested in reuniting with Oleksandr Zinchenko, whom he coached at Manchester City.
Zinchenko played a pivotal role in Arsenal’s resurgence during his first season but has struggled with injuries and form recently. While Bayern could offer a fresh start, Arsenal may face a tough decision: recoup the £32m spent on Zinchenko or retain his versatility for their title push.
As the transfer window approaches, Arsenal’s plans are shaping up to be a blend of strategic reinforcements and potential high-profile exits.
