After winning the La Liga title, alongside the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey, Hansi Flick did not waste any time in planning for the next season. Despite the successful campaign on various fronts, the disappointment of being eliminated in the Champions League semifinals left a bitter taste, given the high expectations surrounding the team.

The German coach has already started preparing for the upcoming stage, setting his sights on two main objectives: maintaining outstanding results domestically while expanding dominance in Europe. To achieve this, he is focused on strengthening the squad with fresh talent while offloading players who did not get a fair chance at Camp Nou.

According to information from the Spanish newspaper ‘El Nacional’, Flick has handed over a ‘blacklist’ to Deco, including six players. Among them are Iñaki Peña and Héctor Fort, who are officially on the transfer list after the coach lost faith in their abilities.

Iñaki Peña’s situation, in particular, drew attention as he was initially relied upon as the first-choice goalkeeper in the absence of Marc-André ter Stegen. However, he soon lost his place to Wojciech Szczęsny, which strained his relationship with Flick.

The list also features Pablo Torre and Pau Víctor, who, despite showing glimpses of potential in their rare appearances, found it difficult to secure consistent playing time amid fierce competition in their respective positions.

Ansu Fati has been another major disappointment this season, as he failed to justify his hefty salary. Flick had hoped to see Fati return to his best form, but after several attempts, the coach is now convinced that this will not happen. Meanwhile, club president Joan Laporta is eager to relieve the club of the player’s annual salary of 12 million euros.

One of the most surprising names on the list is Ronald Araújo, who is considered the most valuable asset among those being offloaded. Barcelona hopes to secure around 60 million euros from the sale of the Uruguayan defender.

Flick has given the green light to both Deco and Laporta to move forward with the sale of all the listed players. The coach believes that refreshing the squad with more consistent and reliable options is necessary to sustain the team’s ambitions both domestically and on the European stage.

This decision comes as a shock to many fans who had high hopes for some of these players to break through. However, Flick remains firm in his vision, aiming to build a more balanced and formidable squad for the upcoming challenges.

With the transfer window approaching, all eyes will be on Barcelona as they navigate through crucial decisions that could reshape the team’s future. Flick’s bold moves indicate that he is willing to make tough choices to ensure long-term success.
