Liverpool have reportedly reached a full agreement with Marc Guéhi, marking a major step toward securing the defender’s arrival at Anfield. The deal, which has been in discussion for some time, reflects the club’s long-term interest in the England international and their confidence in his fit within the squad.
Although Liverpool initially planned to wait until the summer to sign Guéhi on a free transfer, circumstances within the squad have shifted. Defensive issues, including injuries and inconsistency, have created an urgent need for reinforcements, prompting the club to accelerate their plans.
The Reds now intend to move in the January transfer window rather than risk further instability in the back line. Bringing Guéhi in early would not only bolster depth but also provide manager Arne Slot with a reliable option for the second half of the season.
To secure the signing mid-season, Liverpool are prepared to submit an offer in the region of £15 million to £20 million. This fee represents a compromise between their initial plan to wait for a free transfer and the immediate need to strengthen the squad.
With personal terms reportedly settled, the focus now shifts to negotiations between Liverpool and the player’s current club. If an agreement is reached, Guéhi could soon complete one of the most notable defensive moves of the upcoming January window.
