Manchester City’s Transfer Moves: Two Deals Worth £30 Million Sealed, More Expected

Manchester City has successfully concluded two transfer deals worth a combined £30 million as the club continues to refine its squad ahead of the new season. The Premier League champions are renowned for their shrewd transfer dealings, particularly when it comes to maximizing value from their youth academy.

The first major move involves Brazilian full-back Yan Couto, who is set to join Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in a €30 million deal. Despite not making a senior appearance for City, Couto has impressed during his loan spells and will now continue his development in Germany.

Additionally, Nottingham Forest has reached an agreement with City to permanently sign young defender Joel Ndala for £4 million. Ndala, who was on loan at Forest, has shown significant promise, prompting the club to exercise their option to buy him.

In 2023 alone, the club generated over £10 million each from the sales of Shea Charles, James Trafford, and Carlos Borges. Norwich City is considering activating a £5 million option to sign Jacob Wright, while the likes of Callum Doyle, Josh Wilson-Esbrand, Kayky, and Issa Kabore could also be on the move. Additionally, AC Milan is reportedly interested in triggering a €5 million clause to sign veteran defender Kyle Walker, while Kalvin Phillips—currently on loan at Ipswich Town—has been linked with a return to Leeds United.

With Pep Guardiola overseeing a squad refresh, City is expected to be active in both the incoming and outgoing markets. Their strategy of balancing youth sales with strategic reinforcements has been a key factor in their dominance, ensuring long-term financial stability alongside on-field success.
