“Liverpool Chase £88m Bundesliga Wonderkid Drawn Comparisons to Mbappé”

Liverpool in ‘Very Advanced Talks’ to Sign £88m Teen Sensation Compared to Mbappé

Liverpool are pushing forward in their pursuit of RB Leipzig’s explosive young winger Yan Diomande, with reports from Sky Switzerland claiming the club is already in “very advanced talks” with the player’s representatives. The 19-year-old, who has quickly become one of Europe’s most exciting prospects, is attracting intense interest from several top clubs as his reputation continues to soar.

The Premier League champions have struggled to find attacking consistency this season, winning just seven of their 14 league fixtures and currently sitting eighth after a frustrating 1–1 draw against Sunderland. With Mohamed Salah benched for two consecutive matches due to form concerns, Liverpool are actively exploring fresh attacking options—and Diomande has emerged as one of their highest-priority targets.

RB Leipzig, however, are under no pressure to sell. The German side values Diomande at around €100 million (£88 million) and hold a strong negotiating position, with the Ivorian star tied to a long-term contract until 2030. Both Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona are also monitoring him closely, highlighting the fierce competition Liverpool are likely to face if they move formally.

Diomande’s performances since arriving from Leganes have been nothing short of electric. With four goals and four assists in just 14 appearances, he has become one of the most impactful young attackers in the Bundesliga. His blistering pace and sharp finishing have drawn comparisons to Kylian Mbappé, while others liken his style to Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi. His November run, which earned him a Rookie of the Month nomination, showcased exactly why Europe’s elite are lining up.

A move to Anfield would continue Liverpool’s recent trend of recruiting elite talent from Germany, following high-profile arrivals such as Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Hugo Ekitike, and Dominik Szoboszlai. For Arne Slot, securing Diomande would represent a statement signing—one that injects pace, unpredictability, and future superstar potential into the squad. Whether Liverpool choose to accelerate talks for a January transfer remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Yan Diomande is fast becoming one of the most sought-after youngsters in world football.
