Kylian Mbappé’s summer transfer from Paris Saint-Germain to Real Madrid continues to stir emotions, especially in Paris.

The 25-year-old forward, who spent seven years with PSG, has been criticized by figures close to the club for leaving amid unresolved issues over salary and bonuses. Recently, French television host Cyril Hanouna, known for his close ties to PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, voiced a scathing opinion on Mbappé’s decision.

“A Spiral of Failure”

Hanouna did not hold back, calling Mbappé’s move to Real Madrid the “biggest mistake of his life.” Speaking on C8, the host argued that the French star should have stayed in Paris to cement his legacy.

“Mbappé should have stayed at PSG, won the Champions League there, and claimed the Ballon d’Or as a Parisian. The club gave him everything; it would have been his team, and he would have been the undisputed leader. Now, he’s in a spiral of failure,” Hanouna remarked, as reported by Foot Mercato.

Parisian Resentment Lingers

Hanouna’s comments reflect a broader sentiment among PSG supporters and insiders who feel betrayed by Mbappé’s departure. Despite his immense talent, Mbappé’s tenure in Paris saw no Champions League triumphs or Ballon d’Or wins. Critics argue that he could have achieved these milestones had he stayed, particularly given PSG’s ambition to dominate European football.

Finding His Feet in Madrid

While Mbappé’s start at Real Madrid has been under scrutiny, he is showing signs of adapting. Despite criticism of his early performances, the French striker recently scored a stunning goal against Getafe in La Liga, silencing some of his detractors. Backed by manager Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez, Mbappé is slowly finding his rhythm.

As teammate Thibaut Courtois suggested, Mbappé’s form is likely to improve. The club’s unwavering belief in him, coupled with his undeniable talent, could soon make him a key figure at the Santiago Bernabéu. For Real Madrid fans, it’s not a question of if Mbappé will thrive but when.

While the debate rages on, one thing is clear: Mbappé’s journey in Madrid is only beginning. Whether it turns out to be his “biggest mistake” or a career-defining move remains to be seen.
