Good News for Manchester United Fans: Paul Pogba Plans to Return and Train Under Rúben Amorim
In what could be a major boost for Manchester United, Paul Pogba, the French World Cup winner, is eyeing a return to the club where he previously enjoyed significant success. Following his departure from Juventus after the termination of his contract, Pogba now plans to train with Manchester United under the guidance of manager Rúben Amorim. This potential comeback mirrors the journey of Jonny Evans, who rejoined the club after a spell away, impressing the coaching staff and securing a place in the team.
Pogba, now 31, has faced a turbulent period in his career. His second stint at Juventus was marred by injuries and a doping scandal, which led to a four-year suspension in September 2023 after he tested positive for an illegal substance. However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) reduced the ban to 18 months, ruling that the substance was ingested unintentionally. This means Pogba is eligible to return to training in January 2024, with a chance to resume playing competitive football by March 2024.
Despite the setbacks, Pogba’s undeniable talent has not gone unnoticed, and now, under the leadership of Rúben Amorim, there is a real possibility that the midfielder could return to Old Trafford. The potential for Pogba’s return comes at a time when Manchester United’s midfield is stretched thin due to injuries to key players like Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte. In their recent 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town, both Casemiro and Christian Eriksen were substituted after the second half, highlighting the club’s growing need for reinforcements in the middle of the park.
Bacary Sagna, Pogba’s former France teammate, believes that a third stint at Manchester United would be an ideal opportunity for the midfielder. Speaking to Mega Dice, Sagna praised the impact Amorim could have on Pogba’s career. The former Arsenal and Manchester City defender noted that Manchester United’s current situation is very different from when Pogba was last at the club. With a younger coach at the helm, Amorim, who has been a player himself, understands the intricacies of player development and could provide the right environment for Pogba to thrive.
“It’s a different situation at Manchester United now compared to when Paul was last there. They have a young coach who’s been a player and understands the dynamics. Amorim would likely welcome someone like Paul into his setup. As a former player himself, I’m sure he’d be open to seeing Paul come back, especially since Paul loves United,” Sagna stated.
Reflecting on Pogba’s previous time at Manchester United, Sagna emphasized that many of the difficulties Pogba faced were due to the broader struggles of the club during that period. He said, “I’ve spoken with Paul many times, and he genuinely loves United. The problem wasn’t just him—it was the overall situation when he returned. Many players struggled during that time.”
Pogba’s love for Manchester United has been a recurring theme in his career, and it’s clear that he remains deeply fond of the club, despite the ups and downs. His desire to return and prove himself once again could align perfectly with Manchester United’s current objectives, as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the final stretch of the season.
Pogba’s potential return would not only provide United with a top-quality midfielder but also bring much-needed experience and leadership to the squad. His previous successes with the club, including winning the Premier League and the Europa League, would be invaluable in helping United push for silverware in the coming years. While Pogba’s future at Old Trafford is still uncertain, the prospect of his return will excite many fans, especially given the current form of the team and the challenges they face in securing a top-four finish and competing for trophies.
Pogba’s arrival at Manchester United could also bring a new dynamic to the midfield. While Casemiro and Eriksen provide stability and creativity, respectively, Pogba’s ability to drive the team forward with his powerful runs, vision, and passing range would give United another dimension in attack. If Pogba can regain his best form after his suspension, he could be a key player in helping Manchester United secure their objectives this season.
The timing of Pogba’s potential return could not be more critical. With his suspension set to end in March 2024, Pogba will be eager to prove his worth, and there is no better stage than at Manchester United to make his mark. Under Amorim’s leadership, Pogba may be able to recapture the form that made him one of the most sought-after midfielders in world football.
Sagna’s belief that Amorim would be open to Pogba’s return aligns with the Portuguese coach’s progressive approach to player development. Amorim, who has already impressed at Sporting CP, is known for his ability to nurture talent and integrate new players into his system. If Pogba can impress during training, he could find himself back in the starting lineup for United, playing a crucial role in the team’s pursuit of success.
For Manchester United fans, the idea of Pogba returning to the club is an exciting prospect. The French midfielder’s previous stint at Old Trafford was filled with highs and lows, but his undeniable ability to influence matches has never been in question. With a new coach at the helm and a renewed sense of purpose, Pogba could provide the missing piece of the puzzle that United needs to compete for the Premier League title and make a deep run in the Champions League.
As Pogba looks ahead to January 2024, when he can begin training again, the possibility of a return to Manchester United remains very much on the cards. If he can impress Amorim and fit into the team’s plans, Pogba could play a pivotal role in helping Manchester United achieve their goals and return to the top of English and European football. For the player, it’s a chance at redemption; for the club, it’s an opportunity to bring in a world-class talent who could make all the difference in the chase for trophies.
For now, United fans can only hope that Pogba’s potential return comes to fruition. With the added depth and experience he brings, combined with his undeniable talent, the prospect of Pogba wearing the red of Manchester United once again has many supporters eagerly awaiting what could be an exciting chapter in the club’s history.
