Chelsea Fans Call for Noni Madueke to be Benched Despite Victory Over Leicester City

Chelsea secured a 2-1 victory over newly-promoted Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, but the result did little to satisfy fans, who voiced frustration over one player’s performance.

Despite taking an early lead through Nicolas Jackson’s 15th-minute strike, and doubling their advantage with Enzo Fernandez’s header in the second half, Chelsea supporters were unhappy with winger Noni Madueke.

Madueke, who has been a regular starter, struggled to make an impact on the game. His performance was marred by a disallowed goal for offside and a controversial moment where he inadvertently blocked a goal-bound shot from Cole Palmer, which ultimately led to a Leicester goal kick.

This sequence only fueled frustration among fans on social media, with some questioning his place on the pitch. One supporter asked, “What is Madueke still doing on the pitch?” while another urged him to “chill and calm it down.”

Many fans speculated that Madueke might lose his starting spot after this lackluster display.

The winger was substituted in the 85th minute, with Jadon Sancho taking his place. Despite a tense finish, which saw Leicester awarded a penalty in stoppage time (converted by Jordan Ayew to make it 2-1), Chelsea held on to secure all three points.

The victory keeps Chelsea in third place in the Premier League, three points ahead of Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, and Brighton, with more fixtures still to be played over the weekend.

Chelsea’s next challenge is a UEFA Conference League match against Heidenheim on Thursday.

This win may have been crucial, but Chelsea fans are hoping for an improved performance from Madueke in future matches.
