Ahead of Black Consciousness Day, Vinicius Junior, the Real Madrid forward, opened up about his personal experience with racism in an interview with CBF TV. Currently training with the Brazilian national team in preparation for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Peru, the player shared his commitment to the ongoing battle.

Vinicius emphasized the importance of solidarity and unity in addressing this issue: “Black Consciousness Day is crucial because it highlights everything we’ve been through. The CBF, FIFA, and the players are joining forces for this cause, aiming to significantly reduce racism in the near future.”

The Brazilian player also reflected on his role in this fight, noting that while he cannot face it alone, he feels responsible for speaking up for those who suffer in silence. “I know my role is important, but this fight isn’t just about me. I speak for those who don’t have this opportunity,” he said.

Vinicius stressed the need for ongoing efforts to combat racism, reminding everyone that “Black people have suffered for too long; it’s time to say enough. Together, we have the power to change things for a better future.”

He also highlighted some recent progress in the battle against racism, particularly in Spain, where he plays. “In the past few months, several individuals have been prosecuted for racist acts. It’s a positive step forward,” he explained.

Finally, Vinicius shared insights into his personal journey, which has been marked by challenges and obstacles. “I come from a tough background, and I had to fight to get here. From my early days at Flamengo, there have been ups and downs. But my goal remains the same: to take Brazil to the top,” he concluded.

Through his words, Vinicius Junior emerges not only as a leader on the field but also as a spokesperson for the fight against racism and for a more just society.
