Flick Clarifies Goalkeeper Hierarchy at Barcelona
Hansi Flick has offered a clear and direct explanation regarding the competition between Marc-André ter Stegen and Joan García. Addressing recent speculation, the Barcelona manager stated that the situation is straightforward: Joan García is currently his first-choice goalkeeper.
Flick emphasized that his decision is based purely on performance, form, and what he believes best suits the team at this stage of the season. He noted that García has earned the role through consistency and reliability in training and matches.
The coach also clarified that ter Stegen remains an important member of the squad. Flick stressed that the veteran goalkeeper’s professionalism and experience continue to contribute significantly to the team environment and overall competitiveness.
Despite choosing García as the current starter, Flick insisted that the position is never permanently secured. Competition within the squad remains open, and players must continually prove themselves to maintain their roles.
His statement brings clarity to a situation that has generated considerable discussion among supporters. With the hierarchy now publicly defined, attention turns to how both goalkeepers respond and compete moving forward.
