Joan Laporta Highlights Barcelona’s Focus on Youth and Balanced Squad

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has emphasized the club’s strategic focus on building a balanced team rather than chasing marquee signings. While acknowledging Kylian Mbappé’s talent, Laporta expressed a clear preference for integrating key players from Barcelona’s squad and academy.

In a recent statement, Laporta highlighted players such as Lamine, Koundé, Balde, Bernal, Casado, Joan García, and Pedri as central to the club’s vision. “Kylian Mbappé is a great player, but I prefer Lamine, Koundé, Balde, Bernal, Casado, Joan García, Pedri,” he noted, underlining the value he places on homegrown talent and established squad members.

Laporta also praised the blend of academy graduates with experienced professionals, including Raphinha, Ferran Torres, and Lewandowski. He emphasized that this combination maintains competitive performance while fostering team cohesion and sustainable growth.

The president stressed financial prudence, highlighting that Barcelona avoids “crazy” spending while focusing on players who embody the club’s philosophy and long-term goals. His comments reflect a commitment to balancing ambition with responsible management.

Laporta’s remarks offer insight into Barcelona’s current strategy: cultivating youth talent, complementing them with key experienced signings, and ensuring the squad remains financially sustainable—all while keeping fan and club values at the

forefront.
