Drogba Predicts Arsenal Could Cruise to the Title — Names One Player to Watch
After Arsenal’s 2–0 win over Brentford at the Emirates, Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has predicted the Gunners may well clinch the Premier League title — provided one key man continues his recent form. In a bold claim, Drogba singled out Mikel Merino, insisting that if Merino “keeps doing what he did against Brentford,” Arsenal could win the league with ease.
Merino was indeed the standout performer against Brentford, scoring and assisting in a dominant display. His sharp attacking instincts and all-round contribution helped silence Brentford’s comeback attempts and restored Arsenal’s five-point cushion atop the table.
Though Merino has mostly been deployed in midfield, his versatility has stood out this season — filling gaps in forward positions and keeping competition fierce for attacking spots. His recent purple patch — eight goal contributions this campaign, five of them in the last four league games — has transformed him into a serious contender for a regular spot.
With Arsenal now leading by five points and their confidence high, Drogba’s high praise carries weight. The Spaniard’s mix of physicality, tactical awareness, and finishing has given the Gunners added depth up front — a quality many believe will be crucial as they chase silverware deep into the season.
If Merino sustains this level, and the rest of the squad holds through injuries and fixture congestion, Arsenal might not just compete — they might dominate. And according to Drogba’s glowing endorsement, the title race could already be over.
