NewsArne Slot drops latest worrying Liverpool injury update and says if he will unleash new formation against West Ham…

Arne Slot has issued a worrying update on Liverpool’s mounting injury problems ahead of their upcoming trip to West Ham United. With pressure increasing on the head coach, Slot acknowledged that the current defensive crisis has severely limited his tactical options at a critical point in the season.
Liverpool enter the match on the back of a troubling run of form, suffering nine defeats in their last twelve games across all competitions. This slump has seen the Premier League champions fall 11 points behind leaders Arsenal, while their defensive frailties have been laid bare—conceding 10 goals and scoring only once in their last three fixtures. The poor results have intensified calls for tactical changes, including suggestions for a switch to a wing-back system.
Slot, however, ruled out any formation overhaul, stressing that Liverpool simply do not have the available personnel to accommodate such adjustments. Both senior right-backs, Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong, remain sidelined through injury, while Giovanni Leoni has been ruled out for the season with an ACL tear. Joe Gomez is also recovering from a recent knee injection, and Ibrahima Konaté missed training prior to the team’s 4–1 Champions League defeat to PSV Eindhoven.
These absences leave Liverpool dangerously short in defensive positions, limiting Slot’s ability to experiment tactically or rest overworked players. Despite these setbacks, the Dutchman insisted that the team still possesses the necessary quality to recover. He emphasized that the path forward hinges on maximizing the potential of the available squad and rediscovering the collective standards that defined Liverpool’s success in recent seasons.
Slot concluded by reaffirming his belief in the team’s talent, stating that overcoming this period will require renewed focus and unity. While the injury crisis has contributed to their struggles, he maintains that Liverpool have the quality to return to winning ways once the squad stabilizes and performances improve.
