Liverpool Dealt Another Selection Blow Ahead of Crucial PSV Clash

Liverpool’s preparations for their Champions League meeting with PSV Eindhoven have been further complicated by another absence in the right-back position. The club is already without both of its senior specialists on that flank, leaving Arne Slot with limited defensive options ahead of a decisive continental fixture.

The latest setback concerns Calvin Ramsay, who will not be available for Wednesday night’s clash against the Eredivisie leaders. The young Scottish defender had been considered a potential backup solution, but his situation now rules him out entirely for this phase of the competition.

Ramsay is ineligible for all of Liverpool’s Champions League league-phase matches after failing to make Slot’s registered 22-man senior squad. His omission, confirmed earlier in the season, means he cannot be drafted in even amid the current injury pressures.

This development places additional strain on Slot’s tactical planning as he seeks to maintain defensive stability without his natural right-back options. Liverpool will now be forced to rely on improvisation, potentially turning to auxiliary defenders or reshuffling roles to cope with PSV’s attacking threat.

Despite the complications, the club remains focused on securing a positive result. The absence of Ramsay adds to Liverpool’s challenges, but Slot and his squad will aim to demonstrate depth, adaptability, and resilience as they continue their European campaign.
