Real Madrid ‘Target’ Stunning Replacement for Vinicius Jr Amid Contract Bombshell

Real Madrid have been shaken by a bombshell development surrounding Vinicius Jr, and the news has triggered immediate action inside the club. Reports emerging from Spain indicate that Vinicius, one of Real Madrid’s most influential and electrifying players, is refusing to renew his contract. This revelation has not only caused panic among supporters but has also forced the club to identify a high-profile replacement if the situation collapses completely.
Vinicius Jr’s current contract runs until 2027, but what once seemed like a long-term partnership is suddenly under threat. The Brazilian winger has developed into a global superstar at the Santiago Bernabéu, yet his future now appears uncertain. The tension began building earlier this season, with Vinicius occasionally finding himself out of Xabi Alonso’s starting lineup. That alone raised questions, but it was his outburst during El Clasico that truly exposed the cracks.
In the 72nd minute of the match, Alonso substituted Vinicius, and the winger stormed off shouting, “Always me, I’m leaving the team, it’s better if I leave, I’m leaving.” His frustration was evident, and although he later apologized to club president Florentino Perez, insiders claim the apology did little to smooth over deeper issues behind the scenes. According to reports, Vinicius privately admitted during that meeting that he currently has no desire to renew his contract.
Sources close to the club say the relationship between Vinicius and Xabi Alonso has become strained. Their disagreements have reportedly become a daily talking point both inside the dressing room and in Spanish media discussions. Negotiations for a contract extension, which began as early as January, have stalled completely. Vinicius has reportedly refused to continue talks, citing a breakdown in trust and communication with the new manager.
The situation worsened following the Club World Cup defeat to PSG. In that match, Alonso initially planned to bench Vinicius before unexpectedly switching him to the right wing instead of his preferred left side. The decision left Vinicius feeling singled out and disrespected. The change in tactics, combined with other internal decisions, has fueled the narrative that the two simply cannot coexist in the same system.
While Real Madrid are determined to keep him, club officials are aware of the genuine possibility that they could lose one of their key assets sooner than expected. The tension between manager and star player continues to grow, and the uncertainty has forced Real to plan for the worst-case scenario. According to SPORT, the club already has a “clear plan” in place for replacing Vinicius should he ultimately decide to leave.
At the top of that list sits Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland. Real Madrid have admired Haaland for years, and he has long been seen as the player capable of leading the club into a new era. Bringing him to the Bernabéu would be one of the most ambitious transfers in football history. Haaland’s incredible goal scoring record and global popularity make him an ideal replacement for Vinicius, but securing him would be extremely difficult.
Haaland is under contract with Manchester City until 2034, making any transfer incredibly complex. However, Real Madrid’s strong relationship with his agent, Rafaela Pimienta, gives the Spanish giants hope that negotiations could be possible. Officials at Real believe that, with the right financial package and strategic timing, they could make a historic move happen.
Vinicius currently earns around £15.8 million per year at Real Madrid, and the club attempted to increase that amount in a proposed renewal. However, his representatives rejected the offer and instead requested a contract similar to Cristiano Ronaldo’s legendary salary during his prime years at the club. This request reportedly pushed negotiations into a state of complete standstill.
At the same time, other clubs have begun circling. Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund is said to have explored the possibility of offering Vinicius a massive deal to join the Saudi league. However, talks did not progress, and Vinicius remains uninterested in leaving Europe at this stage of his career. Instead, Premier League interest has surged in recent weeks.
Among the English clubs interested, Manchester United have emerged as strong contenders. One report claims that United are prepared to submit a staggering £176 million bid for the Brazilian winger. The club views him as the ideal player to spearhead their long-term project and usher in a new era at Old Trafford. Whether Vinicius would consider such a move remains to be seen, but Real Madrid are watching closely.
Real Madrid now find themselves at a critical juncture. They want Vinicius to stay, but they are also preparing for a scenario where his departure becomes inevitable. Club president Florentino Perez is reportedly doing everything possible behind the scenes to repair the relationship between Vinicius and Alonso, but sources say the situation is delicate and increasingly unpredictable.
If Vinicius leaves, Real Madrid risk losing not only a generational talent but also one of the most marketable players in world football. His presence on the wing has become a key part of Real’s strategy and identity. Replacing him would require a superstar capable of delivering both on and off the pitch, which is why Haaland has become the focal point of their contingency plan.
For now, the club can only hope that time heals the growing friction between player and manager. But as the weeks pass, pressure continues to mount. Fans, pundits, and rival clubs are all watching closely, waiting for the next chapter in a saga that could reshape European football.
Whether Vinicius signs a new deal, forces a move, or becomes part of one of the biggest transfers in history, one thing is clear: Real Madrid are preparing for a future filled with major decisions, high stakes, and possible transformation at the top level of the squad.
