Manchester United star and Brazil international Casemiro has named the three greatest players of his era, excluding Ronaldinho in favor of some familiar names. The 32-year-old defensive midfielder, who has had a storied career with clubs like São Paulo, Real Madrid, Porto, and Manchester United, made the revelation in a recent interview with Placar magazine.
With five Champions League titles and three La Liga championships to his name, Casemiro has played alongside footballing greats such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Sergio Ramos, and Luka Modric. On the international stage, he has earned 75 caps for Brazil, sharing the pitch with the likes of Neymar, Philippe Coutinho, and Thiago Silva.
In his interview, Casemiro named Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, and Lionel Messi as the three best players of his generation, stating:
“I was lucky enough to see Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Neymar, who are the three greatest of my generation.”
He continued, praising Messi’s legacy:
“Lionel Messi has made football history. He has always been a rival, whether with Barcelona or Argentina, but those who love football love Messi. It was a pleasure to face him. He doesn’t need a description, you can just admire him.”
Although he acknowledged players like Ronaldo Nazário and Zinedine Zidane as greats, Casemiro made it clear that Messi, Ronaldo, and Neymar stand out in his eyes. Casemiro also joked about never having to face Cristiano Ronaldo in a competitive match, adding, “Luckily, I never had to face him! He brought me so many victories and titles.”
Despite his performances dipping slightly in recent seasons, Casemiro remains a key figure at Manchester United, even after being linked with a move to Saudi Arabia during the summer transfer window.
